Sándor Halmósi (1971), Hungarian poet, translator, editor, publisher and mathematician, studied at the grammar school in Satu Mare, Romania. He lived in Germany for sixteen years and graduated from the University of Stuttgart.
He has been living in Budapest (Hungary) since 2006. In addition to his literary work, he lectures on traditions, poetry, language and symbols. He encourages poetry. He also values cultural dialogue, as well as the interaction between literature and the fine arts. Halmósi is the founder of several literary and cultural institutions and organizations.
He is a member of the Hungarian PEN Club, Budapest and the European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters, Paris. He is also associated with writers’ organizations and the global poetry circle around the world. In February 2020, he published a manifesto called ‘Outcry for Pure Literature’, in which he tried to shed spiritual light on the crisis facing the world. Taking a genuine poetic stance, he has elaborated on the principles of the responsibility of writers as well as the language and social characteristics of poetry. He is the coordinator of the global poetry movement.
